NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
