No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
