Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
