NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
