No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
