Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
