NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
