NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
