NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
