NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
