NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
