Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
