No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
