No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
