NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
