No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
