No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
