No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
