No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
