NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
