NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
