No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
