No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
