No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
