No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
