NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse comments from others kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
